Ronald DeBaise

Ronald F. DeBaise, 91, passed peacefully on February 6, 2026, at McClure Miller Respite in Colchester, VT. Ron was the beloved husband of the late Audrey (Hutson) DeBaise, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and a wonderful life filled with joy.

Born on December 4, 1934, in New Haven, CT, Ron was the son of the late Dominick and Helen DeBaise. He graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1954 and later earned his degree from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. Ron married Audrey in 1959, and they raised their three children in Wallingford.

Ron began his career in the life insurance industry and went on to spend most of his professional life with Tilcon Connecticut. He was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication. Ron and Audrey shared a love of travel, especially throughout the East Coast, and they treasured visits to see their daughter in California. After retiring, they moved to VT to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Ron enjoyed hobbies that reflected both his creativity and appreciation for the arts. A gifted woodworker, he created pieces with Audrey that they displayed at craft shows throughout CT and VT. He also loved to cook, and many still rave about his meatballs. A loyal sports fan, he followed the Red Sox, Celtics, and UConn basketball with enthusiasm. Above all, he was a constant, encouraging presence at his children’s and grandchildren’s events.

Through the Starksboro Mentoring Program, Ron formed meaningful relationships with elementary school students, an experience he deeply valued. With his warm smile and easygoing nature, he seemed to know someone wherever he went. His kindness and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Ron will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a gifted craftsman, and a steady, joyful presence in the lives of many.

Ron is survived by his children, Scott DeBaise and his wife Chrissy; Charlene Bauer and her husband Dan; and Christopher DeBaise; as well as his grandchildren, Aiden and Lynden DeBaise. He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Mikolinski; his brother, Dominic DeBaise; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his life will be celebrated privately by his immediate family.
