The family of Rodney "Rod" Judd is deeply saddened by the passing of a remarkable man, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend on January 9, 2026. Rod was born on November 27, 1952, and was the third oldest child in the family of Roy and Ruth (Place) Judd.
He was born in Sutton, Quebec, and moved to Franklin County, Vermont, as a young child, where he lived on the Maurice Hammond Farm. He worked for Frances Howrigan on the farm in St. Rock's and also drove a fertilizer truck to many local farms across Vermont. His last job was as a road foreman with the Town of Fairfield until his early retirement.
Rod leaves behind his beloved family, including his daughter Michelle Gibson (Rob) of Virginia, and his son Jeremiah "JJ" Judd & Katie Mahoney of St. Albans. He cherished his grandchildren, Quinton Tardie, Makayla Tardie, Evan Judd, and Connor Judd, with whom he shared a very special bond of love and friendship. He is also survived by his siblings: Diane Comstock, Debbie Bolio, Karleen Place, Gary Judd (Leisha), Patti Judd (Jeff Groves), Dianne Rounds (Ted), and Julie King (Wendall). Additionally, he had many nieces, nephews, and a very special cousin from Ontario, Linda Krack (Gerry).
Rod was predeceased by his father Roy, his mother Ruth Judd, his brother Dale Judd, his sister Tammy Cook, and his special aunt Evelyn Judd (Eldon). Rod's memories will live on in a special place in the woods, where he loved to spend spring and fall amid turkeys, deer, and wildlife. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vermont Fish and Wildlife in Rod's honor. More information can be found at: https://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/get-involved/donate/fish-and-wildlife-trust-fund. Rod’s love for nature, wildlife, and the sport of hunting will be remembered fondly and continue to carry on.
A small family gathering for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 3 PM to 5 PM at 3227 VT RTE 78, Highgate Center, Vermont, 05459. Please park in the United Methodist Church parking lot and enter through the yellow house.
