Gloria Mathieu

Gloria Jean (Francis) Mathieu, 63, passed away unexpectedly Friday January 9, 2026, at her home in Colchester where she was a resident for over 40 years. Gloria was born on March 25, 1962, in Burlington, VT, the daughter of the late Donald Paul Francis and Joan (Sourdiff) Francis.

Gloria had her own business of housecleaning for many years which she genuinely enjoyed. In her spare time, she loved collecting owls, crocheting, tending to her flower beds, hosting cookouts, bonfires, and spending time with family and friends making memories. She loved to laugh and would light up any room she walked into.

Gloria grew up in Chittenden County where she married the love of her life Randy Mathieu on July 26, 1982, in Burlington, VT. She will be missed terribly by her husband of 43 years, Randy Mathieu of Colchester. She also leaves her son, Shawn Mathieu of Essex. Stepchildren, Lauri Whidden of St Albans, Randy Mathieu and his wife Amy of Bakersfield, and Eric Marceau of St. Albans, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her siblings, Donna Kilburn, Joann Marshall, Michael Francis, Jay Francis, Randy Francis, Lori Francis, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews as well as great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Gloria was predeceased by her daughter Sonya, her brother Paul, sisters-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews from both sides of the family.

A private funeral is planned for family and close friends on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1pm, at the VFW in Winooski with reception to follow.
